While Kanyalak Preedasuttijit had a stroll to the women's title, Witchayanon Chothiranrungrueang had to fend off a spirited challenge to claim the men's top prize at the Thailand Amateur Open yesterday. The Udon Thani-born Witchayanon carded a three-under-par 69 in the fourth round for a under total and two-stroke victory over Sadom Kaewkanjana 69 at Bangkok's Panya Indra Golf Club. The year-old Witchayanon had three birdies in a bogey-free round yesterday to keep second-placed Sadom at an arm's length. The Thai Amateur Weightlifting Association will not send its athletes to the Olympic Games in Tokyo or any other international competition after its weightlifters have been tested positive for doping. The association did not name the athletes in the statement, but an earlier Reuters report said the tests involved six Thais. All but Teerapat are female.
