Safe Arrival

4:45 P.M. Beijing Time
After some sort of mishap with our initial airplane while we were waiting at the gate, we were shuffled off to another gate, another plane, and we took off on time. The flight lasted 11 hours and and we all arrived in smoggy Beijing around 3:00 PM. An hour shuttle bus ride brought us to our hotel. Our guide Shi Wen Tao, AKA David, was at the airport to greet us with bottles of water and a brief talk about our upcoming itinerary. We're in our hotel rooms now awaiting our 7:00 dinner together. It's hot; it's smoggy; it's fabulous!

Hi, everyone! I am vicariously enjoying your trip already, thanks for taking the time to post some info. Do you know you missed a 4 point earthquake in SF? Guess you got out of town just in time. Looking forward to more fun times across the miles. Special hi to Ron, Anja, Linda and Bruce. Zie jien! Frank Redmond
Glad to hear you have all arrived safely. Also good to see David in the picture, as proof that he made it on the plane. Keep those great updates posted. Those of us who are state side are anxiously awaiting every description and tale.

Hello Everyone,
It was nice to hear this morning when I called the airline that UAL 889 had arrived safely in Beijing while we slept in Middlebury last night and even better to see proof in the picture in Florida this evening. The shuttle van looks familiar, and it reminds me of our adoption trip.
We had our own adventure getting down here, but all is well in grandparent/inlawland. It is about 90 degrees but really doesn't feel that hot so far.
Ron, please post your school email address, as I forgot to bring it with me and I don't even know how to access our home email remotely. My tech is in China!
Have a wonderful trip! Take care,
More pics of the group please!! :-)
